Research indicates one of the major contributors to missed putts is improper alignment. Unlike sports where eyes are positioned directly behind the target, putting stroke positions eyes to the side of the ball. Principals of optometry show that unless eyes can be positioned directly above the ball's center and on the intended target line, visual misperceptions will occur. For most golfers, the common solution for this problem is to compensate by adjusting swing path or address position. These adjustments, however, create inconsistency in the address position, leading to putting stroke issues and improper sidespin on the ball.
